Hurricane Season 2008
Another season is coming are you ready?  Hopefully the past quiet years have not made the public complacent.  Recently those who need shelters the most, mobile home parks, would not allow a resident to place a shelter on her property, round versus square look being the reason.  I am amazed how hard it is for people to change.  As Edison said, "We could all live much better lives if we were not so resistant to change."

Hurricane and Disaster survival

David Pressler, president of Lunar Construction, is a retired firefighter with Miami Dade County.  His experience during the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew and subsequent hurricanes throughout the Southeast has led to the creation of this site for hurricane and disaster survival.

What is a disaster?

Most would agree that it is a potentially life threatening event.
Depending on the event, a person might have days or just seconds.  Rule of thumb, 15 minutes!  You should be able to be in your shelter within 15 minutes!!  Do not think you can leave your house and drive.  Within 15 minutes you will be in a gridlock of traffic, the worst situation to be in.
The 8 ton transportable concrete and steel safe dome is capable of withstanding winds of 200 mph or more. Those who stayed inside their dome during Hurricane Wilma say that they felt very secure while the 130 mph wind blew for hours.
My safe domes meet FEMA 320 for safe rooms.
